Friends

Become a Friend.

And strengthen our town library.

What do the Friends do?

The Friends are dedicated volunteers who advocate for libraries by raising funds to support special programs and services that expand and enrich the library’s regular budget. These “extras” include all library programs, museum passes, business subscriptions, library materials, toy and tools library and capital purchases such as the Wireless Network and a wide variety of  technology.

What are the specific roles and duties of the Friends, the Library Board and Library Director?

This chart created by the State of Connecticut and published by the American Library Association help to clarify the roles and duties of the Friends, Board of Trustees and the Library Director as we all work together for the good of our library community.

Why join the Friends?

Your membership demonstrates to the community that you feel that the library is an important institution in the life of Dover. As a Friend, you can limit your involvement to a yearly membership contribution, or you can become as active as you like in the Friends’ annual fund-raising events, or serve on one of their many Committees.
